The Joy of Reading for Spanish Speakers

 I’ve always enjoyed reading.  It has brought hours of joy to my life.  Now as I recover from back surgery, I really appreciate my ability to read. Reading is how I spend my days until I am back to hiking, biking and kayaking.

My company, Fisher Hill Publishers, has an excellent Structured Literacy Program to help Spanish speakers learn to read and write in English. The first book to use at each level is the Reading and Spelling workbook. https://fisher-hill.com/product-category/reading-and-spelling/ The program uses a very systematic, explicit approach to teaching the forty-four English speech sounds.  After completing the Reading and Spelling workbook, students are ready to practice reading by using the Reading Comprehension workbook https://fisher-hill.com/product-category/comprehension/ or writing by using the Writing Composition workbook https://fisher-hill.com/product-category/composition/ .  The Vocabulary workbook reviews the vocabulary at each level.

Teens and adults like our workbooks because the pace is reasonable, print is large, directions are in Spanish, there’s lots of pictures but the content is for older students.  Teachers like our books because everything is ready to go!  There’s an answer key at the end of each lesson and an English translation of the Spanish directions at the end of each book.
