Fisher Hill has six easy to use workbooks to help Spanish-speaking teens and adults improve their English writing skills.  English Writing Composition for the Spanish Speaker workbooks provide a structured and systematic approach to teaching the different writing skills.

The first two workbooks teach basic sentence structure and how to write informative paragraphs.  The next two workbooks include instruction and practice for writing simple, compound and complex sentences.  They also provide instruction and practice for writing informative and operational essays.  The last two workbooks provide instruction and practice for writing persuasive and contrast/comparison essays.    There is an answer key at the end of each workbook. The first two workbooks have the same Table of Contents but the skills and vocabulary are more advanced in Book 2.  The same applies for Books 3 and 4.  They also have the same Table of Contents but Book 4 has more advanced skills and vocabulary.  Same with Books 5 and 6.

Fisher Hill has four easy to use workbooks to help Spanish speakers learn about U.S. history and geography.   Each workbook includes stories, maps, and activities in Spanish and English.

Each state is presented by a story, then a vocabulary and comprehension page, next a map with questions, and finally a chart, table, graph, or another type of activity which presents information to the reader.  Most stories deal with a historic topic. The stories are about men and women from different racial groups who have helped build this nation. The words and questions on the vocabulary and comprehension pages are used in conjunction with the story.  The maps show some of the major cities, rivers, and products of the different states.  The charts, tables, and graphs present information for students to read and use.

These four workbooks provide an excellent overview of U.S. history and geography.  The books can also be downloaded.  Where it says Option scroll down and choose ebook.  There are  sample pages from each workbook that can be viewed.  Click on the book and then on the blue box that says Sample Pages.

Fisher Hill has two easy to use workbooks to help students learn Spanish.  The workbooks are called Spanish Made Fun & Easy.  Each workbook has twelve lessons.

Each lesson deals with a common theme, for example, Breakfast, Telling Time, Shopping.   Each lesson is divided into eight parts.  The first page is a vocabulary list.  Beginning Spanish is included as well as the vocabulary of the particular theme.  The definite article is placed in front of each Spanish noun on the list, letting the student know whether it is a feminine or masculine noun.  The second page is a conversation which uses the vocabulary in a common situation.  Next is a story related to the theme which reinforces the vocabulary and the conversation.  The fourth page of each lesson is an exercise that requires choosing a word from the vocabulary list and then writing it in a sentence that is missing that word.  The next three pages are a variety of activity pages.  At the end of each lesson are the answers to the exercises. At the end of each book are two dictionaries:  Spanish-English and English-Spanish.

U.S. Citizenship for Spanish Speakers Book 1 gives Spanish speakers information to help pass the U.S Government questions on the Civics Test. Book 1 also provides practice to help pass the reading and writing tests. 

U.S. Citizenship for Spanish Speakers Book 2  gives Spanish speakers information and practice to help pass the U.S. History and Integrated Civics questions on the Civics Test. Book 2 also provides practice to help pass the reading and writing tests.

The Civics Test is an oral test and the USCIS Officer will ask the applicant up to 10 of the 100 civics questions. An applicant must answer 6 out of 10 questions correctly to pass the civics portion of the naturalization test. On the naturalization test, some answers may change because of elections or appointments. For most people, the cost to take the U.S. Citizenship Test will be $1,170 in 2023..

The six English Vocabulary for the Spanish Speaker workbooks are part of Fisher Hill’s English Structured Literacy Program for Spanish speakers. The Structured Literacy Program has six levels with four workbooks at each level:  Reading and Spelling, Reading Comprehension, Writing Composition and Vocabulary. Each level begins with the Reading and Spelling workbook.

On our website, there are free placement tests to determine on which level a student should begin the Structured Literacy Program.  A student needs a score of 80% to go to the next level.  For example, if a student gets 60% on the placement test for level one, then that student needs to begin with level one.
