Fisher Hill has six easy to use workbooks called English Vocabulary for the Spanish Speaker. The six workbooks use many pictures and graphic organizers to help students expand their English vocabulary. Graphic organizers are visual representations or frames used to organize information. They can help students see the relationships between ideas which will allow students to more easily understand, remember and apply information. Having a well developed vocabulary is the key to reading comprehension. The more words a person knows, the better they will understand the text. A well developed vocabulary not only improves listening and reading comprehension but also writing composition. At the end of each workbook, there is an Answer Key and an English translation of the Spanish directions.

The six English Vocabulary for the Spanish Speaker workbooks are part of Fisher Hill’s English Structured Literacy Program for Spanish speakers. The Structured Literacy Program has six levels with four workbooks at each level: Reading and Spelling, Reading Comprehension, Writing Composition and Vocabulary. On our website, there are free placement tests to determine on which level a student should begin the Structured Literacy Program. A student needs a score of 80% to go to the next level. For example, if a student gets 60% on the placement test for level one, then that student needs to begin with level one with English Writing Composition for the Spanish Speaker Book 1. Students like our workbooks because the pace is reasonable, print is large, directions are in Spanish, plenty of pictures but the content is for older students. Teachers like our books because everything is ready to go!
