Fisher Hill has easy to use English literacy workbooks for dyslexic Spanish speakers. Their Structured Literacy Program was developed to help dyslexic Spanish speakers learn to read and write in English. The Program is geared toward Spanish speaking teens and adults, but students of all languages can benefit from this program. The series has six levels. Each level has four workbooks: https://www.fisher-hill.com/structured-literacy-program/
Reading and Spelling
Each level begings with the English Reading and Spelling workbook. https://www.fisher-hill.com/product-category/reading-and-spelling/ The workbooks use Orton Gillingham methods to teach reading and spelling. Orton Gillingham uses a very systematic, structured, explicit and multisensory approach to teach the forty-four English speech sounds to read and spell. The workbooks provide practice with phonemic awareness, which is the ability to identify individual sounds and their order within words. Learning the different speech sounds will help students read and spell in English fluently. Eighty-five percent (85%) of words in English are phonetic. The workbooks also present many of the commonly used words, called sight words, that are not phonetic.
After completing the Reading and Spelling workbook, students are ready to practice reading by using the Reading Comprehension workbook https://www.fisher-hill.com/product-category/comprehension/ or writing by using the Writing Composition workbook https://www.fisher-hill.com/product-category/composition/ . The Vocabulary workbook reviews the vocabulary at each level. https://www.fisher-hill.com/product-category/vocabulary/
